How to Partition Your Hard Disk Drive in Windows XP, 7 or 8, 8.1

Step 1: Right click on My Computer icon on your Desktop and click  Manage button.
Step 2: Now go to Disk management below Storage, there we can see partitioned and removable drivers.
Step 3: Choose a driver which you want to divide, then click it and select Shrink Volume button.
Step 4: Enter the desire size you want to shrink your drive to in megabytes. Then click on the "Shrink" button.
Step 5: Now you will see there is new unallocated volume has been created. Now right click on that unallocated volume and click on "New simple volume".
Step 6: Now "New Simple Volume Wizard" will appears. Click on the "Next" button.
Step 7: Enter the size of new simple partition in "Megabytes" and then click on "Next" button.
Step 8: Assign the letter to the new volume. After that click on "Next".
Step 9: Choose whether you want to format this volume. Select file System "NTFS". Allocation unit size "Default" and Volume label, type the name you want to give your new disk drive. Tick on "Perform a quick format" and then click on "Next" button.
Step 10: Now click on "Finish" to create a new volume.
Step 11: Now you will see the "Tap to choose what happens with removable drives" popup occurs. That's means we have successfully partition a hard disk. To ensure that new volume has been successfully created just go to "Computer". You will see your new volume with its name and letter.
